ABOUT GALLANT FILMS

"Working with Josh was an education for me as a first time feature documentary director. It was a great experience and I was impressed by his willingness to commit to doing what it takes for a very difficult film. Together, we shaped marketing materials, sought out and devised promotional events and saw the DVD go through its birth process. Josh's qualities as a distributor include being honest, meticulous, patient, persistent and caring."

Who is Josh Levin?

Josh Levin, the President and CEO of Gallant Films, is a film marketing and distribution executive who has brought more than 30 feature films to the US marketplace, including top award winners from Cannes, Sundance, Venice, Berlin, Toronto and Tribeca. As Chief Marketing Officer for Film Movement, Josh learned how to get hard-to-place films in front of the eyes of filmgoers across the country "by any means necessary," from theatrical premieres in New York City to library screenings in Butte, Montana -- while also learning how to get filmmakers paid for their art. Working with films with tiny or non-existent marketing budgets is Josh's forte. Since starting Gallant Films in 2007, Josh has also begun working in production financing and consulting. Josh got his MBA from Columbia Business School and his BA from the University of Michigan.

Where is Gallant Films located?

Gallant Films is based in New York City.

What services do you offer?

We show specialty filmmakers how to get their movies into the marketplace and exploit all the windows of distribution (theatrical, festival, television, home video, online, educational/institutional and ancillary).

To learn more about our specific services, check out our marketing and distribution services page, or contact us directly.

Can Gallant Films help me with production financing?

Yes!

Finding the money to make and market your film is extremely difficult. This is especially true for first-time filmmakers. Gallant Films can create the right strategy for you and find the right partners to get your film financed. To learn more, check out our film production page.

For certain documentary projects, I have gotten directly involved with the production of the film. Please check out our list of recent clients for more info on the films we're producing.

How much is this going to cost?

Other consultants charge $5,000 to $10,000 to even review a new project. However, we're well aware that most new filmmakers have put so much of their resources towards making the film that they cannot pay such high prices. At Gallant Films, we pride ourselves on offering independant filmmakers great services and reasonable, flexible billing. Our hourly base rate is $200/hr., with a four-hour minimum, plus mutually agreed-upon expenses. You will never find hidden "surprise" charges in our bills! For certain fundraising projects, we can work out a commission-based fee structure.
